Tired of Just Existing?
Let's face it. Most of us go through life just waiting for things to happen to us. When things get uncomfortable enough we decide to act. Why? Because we are too comfortable where we are, or we are just too scared to make a change. Personally, I am tired of having a life of merely existing. It is time to LIVE!
But I want to live with purpose. Not to simply please myself, I want to make a difference in this world. How about you? Do you feel like there is something more than just existing?
If we are honest with ourselves most of us have felt this way. Maybe you still do. After all, I am convinced that the hunger to be more, to do more was placed in us from the beginning. God created us to walk in perfect relationship with him. But selfishness overwhelmed the first two people of creation and things have been progressing downhill ever since. Our souls long to be restored to the original intention, a perfect union with the Creator. Thankfully, God has provided a way to reverse the madness. It is through relationship with Jesus Christ.
Jesus atoned for the selfish deeds of Adam and Eve and all their descendants with the blood of the Cross and the power of the resurrection. Through that atonement the door is open for new life to every person on the face of the earth. But a simple prayer and acknowledgement of this is not enough. God is after more. He is after your heart!
You see, so many Christians have prayed the Sinner's Prayer and then entered into the routine of Christian activity. You know, eliminate the overtly bad things and replace them with "Christian" things like going to church and praying before meals. So many believers are simply going through the motions of the Christian life and are failing to experience the "abundant life" that Jesus promised in John 10:10. I believe the reason is they have not been taught how to enter into and experience the Jesus way of life.
Now is the time to discover a new way of living. Now is the time to become INTENTIONAL in the way that you live, so that you can do more than just exist. You can experience a life that is full of purpose and intimacy with God. But, it does not come easily. It is a challenge. You must be willing to renovate your life. To turn it upside down in order to place everything in it's proper order, under the authority of God's Kingdom.
